my scout is stock right now, it is awaiting money for mods and shat. i have 33"x12.50's i got cheap and they're goin on soon. i have a drop pitman arm i got at a junkyard. the main part i was wondering about is pinion angle. with just the axle under conv. i was wonder if that would be a problem. anything else people know from this expirience would help. reverse shackles will probably be next.

My axles are under my Scout, it runs great that way, you should try it some time. I tried it once with the axles in the garage and the Scout would not move, any ideas?

Search the daily Topics in the IH section, we've discussed SOA's and SR's in detail. Hang in their soon enough you'll be a smart ass like the rest of us.

Are you using two rear axles? You might want to try a Dana 44 with steering knuckles, it'll allow you to turn.

What are you doing with a drop pitman arm? :rainbow:

I need a less-drop pitman arm .. need to go visit a buddy and finally get a 78/79 Bronco arm from him and hope it's raised enough. :flipoff2:

When I first did my SPRINGS OVER THE AXLES (that's SOA, not AUS, which is a country, or a part of your body, depends..) I ran "equal and opposite" angles on the front and rear.

No problems after clearancing the U-joint yokes and greasing the joints before every run.

I now have an RS with negative front pinion angle - no problems after I removed the zerk fittings (they were binding!)

I'm throwing in some 6-deg shims with the new trussed front end to bring the pinion back up closer to level hopefully.

Later I'll move the motor back and drop the whole assembly 3-5" for a lower COG and better driveline angles..

Maybe then I'll step up from 31" tires, too...
