Don't be sorry for bringing that up-folks like me are still out carbs and money we paid him (hundreds of $$ folks).

No sir, it may be a sore spot for the community, but so is the fact that he's still out there somewhere having never made good on his promises for many of us cruiser owners, and any bit of light that than be shown his way (wherever that may be) about this is not a bad thing to that respect.

6 or 8 are in my private collection. The other 150 are cores for rebuilding. One of my specialties. :)

OK- I will eventually need a rebuild. Care to PM me some prices and specifics. Do you have the jets for High altitude? Its a 77 FJ40 with a 2F.

HAve any early rebuilder 1 barrels for the 1F.
I have two older rochester carbs, which I can't get a kit to rebuild, and the carb I'm running now (Weber) is a POS. Never had a carb give me so many fits! I perfer the carb that was designed to work with the engine, but finding one is proving difficult. Well at least in AK. Never had a problem finding parts in calif.

Mark, is your speciality 1 BBL's?

Ken, I think our best bet for the later 70, 2 barrel carbs is a Jim C. rebuild for altitude. Jeff Zepp will tell you nothing but good about that mod...

I have quite a few stock 1bbl carbs, both D40s and SD40s, all 5 varieties. I would be happy to build you one. You can call the shop and we'll talk about it. :)

Romer, PMed ya.

As far as the other question goes, I dont really have an answer. I suppose comparisons are inevitable. I have not had the opportunity to chat with Jim myself yet, but I am already certain that when we do, it will be pleasant. EVERYTHING I have heard about him is good. It sounds like he is the same natural tinkerer that I am, and does the same thorough job, with the same good results and loyal following.

I am just another option.

:)
