I have heard, and read all over the place that a high steering setup is not for a DD?

If done correctly, with the correct machine work, and parts, and all angles figured as they should be....what is wrogn w/ having it on a DD?

Total BS, High steer is fine for a DD. You couldn't of found that here. Right?

hydraulic steering many people say is not for a DD (but there's tons of debate about that which I'm not going to comment on)

high-steering, as in running your tierod on some aftermarket steering arms on top of the knuckles, is great for a DD.

I can't recall references, but the closest is this:

A flattop knuckle allows you to run high steer (high steer) or Spring Over Steering arms on a Dana 44 straight axle. This moves your steering up 3-7" higher than the stock steering. If you driver your vehicle off road you'll understand why this is done. However, if your into driving on the street don't do this modification, it gains you nothing worth your time.

I mean, it's my DD, but also my trail rig.

But I now have more "It's ok" than I have "It's not ok".

Thanks guys!!!

If you are SOA, high steer is a must. DD or weekend warrior.

If you have leaf spring front suspension this is a GREAT modification for an lifted street driven rig. It is a strong setup that will help you eliminate bump steer making your vehicle safer for every day driving. Any one who says its not good for a DD is dumber then a bucket of dog snot.

if you have a lift kit that increases your angles
then the high steer will help return it to better angles as well

oh yeah and the benifit of higher tierod clearances (less bent tierods)
but if you have never bent one to begin with and your suspension is mostly stock then there is no real need for it. other than damage clearances.

as for it being on a dd? I think the info was misleading and if not then there are a whole lot of peeps running it out there with little to no concern.

proper installation is the key factor, and properly setting the torque specs, and setting it up right, (no booty fab when steering a daily driver is concerned) and then aligning it correctly, use every safty precaution you can find and use the appropriate locktight in the appropriate places.

and you'll love it.
