Ok, Ben, Abba, Matt, and anyone else...

I was talking with Mark last night, about putting a 80 folding windsheild on my 800. he thinks the 800 has an intergal (with body) windseild frame. assuming this is true, he said he thought you could sawzall off the 800 windsheild, weld in a plate and bolt on the 80.

so the big question is how exactly dows to 80 windsheild attach? picture would be nice.

Thanks,

NQS

Hey NQS,

I ran out into the garage and took some quick pics of the windshield hinge attachment. Please excuse the dust everywhere...damn grinding wheel dust...Anyway, I loaded the pics into my webshots account under other. Just click on my Dub Dub Dub link below. Also, please note if it's not available: Webshots takes about 1/2 for photos to appear from the time I load them. Let me know if you have any questions.

hmmm Ok, there it is... I never noticed that link before.....

yep, that looks just like the 80 that I used to have. Maybe I'll take the camera home and snap some pics of the 800(s) in the yard, and we can compare. The 800 has a very simulare windshield design, just no hinge, and the wipers are at the bottom.

*I* think it wouldn't be *too* hard to make a fold down work... god knows I've done harder things :D

FWIW, I have a friend with an 800B with a fold-down windshield.

To the best of our knowledge it was factory.. but I never looked too far into it.

It should be in Missoula.. I haven't seen him for a while (haven't seen much of him since I dropped his half-finished Scout II off at his house and got it the heck out of my place..)

Really? I thought that it was only the 80's...Next thing you know, someone will find a Scout that came with a 44 front from the factory (Before you start, I'm talking about the 1st generations ones, not the SII's):)

I think when I asked about it I was told you *could* order one.. just like everything else. ;)

I didn't look the Scout over too well.. but I remember "No, you can't have a fold down windshield, it's an 800B" "Yes, I do" "No, you can't" "Yes, I do"..

"Damn.. you do!"

There wasn't any glaring reason to doubt it was stock.. but I never looked real closely.

I did try to buy it from him a year later. :D

Instead, he traded away the Scout II I half rebuilt for him for an 800 gas tank.. the Scout now lives in South Dakota and David's enjoying all of the redone stuff.

It needed a week's worth of work, but the kid couldn't figure out how to plug the steering column into the wiring harness.. but he could sure wire-wheel every nut n' bolt!

Anyhow.. if I get a chance, I'll try to get a closer look at it.. one of these years. ;)
