: Tacoma with 33's
SASToy 10-19-2004, 11:32 AM Got a 98 V6 Tacoma 4wd that currently has 31's. IT is a DD and I was thinking of upgrading to some 33/10.5's. I get 20mpg highway and about 17-18 in town. Just wondering what kind of mpg I can expect to get with the 33's from those of you that have a similar set up. TIA
Ryan
Myanarchy 10-19-2004, 05:41 PM I have an 01 with a 2.7/5spd/ 3.91 gears. I get about 15 city-17 HWY if I keep my foot out of it on 33 MT/Rs.

Not bad, anyone with the V6 that has 33/10.5's?
CJesse7 10-19-2004, 11:00 PM do you have a lift on your toy? if you do, you should go with 33-12.5s, 10.5 look really skinny. my brother had them on his truck, and it looked like a hogs ass sewn up with a banana stock. :flipoff2:

It will be lifted around 2 inch. I think a skinny tire looks bad ass, gives it that uni-mog look :) I don't want the 12.5 look, especially not with a 2 inch lift
jtaco1 10-20-2004, 02:40 PM YOu should be fine with 2 inches of lift and the 10.50's, if you were going 12.50's you would maybe want to re-gear, but with the v6, shouldn't be a problem.

maybe I misworded the question, I am not asking if the tires will fit on my truck, what I am asking is what kind of mpg I can expect from someone who has 33's and the v6
SASToy 10-25-2004, 01:50 PM top. no one running around this board with 33's and a v6 taco?

 10.50 or 12.50 does not effect gear ratio. My Dad has a 95 V6 with 33x12.50 BFG's, no gear change, dont know what gas milage is, but you need to be going like 75 mph to even think of using OD. :D

So your Dad has the 3.0 correct? i can imagine he might have to wind it up to get it in to OD, my 96 Runner had the 3.4 and 32's, OD was not a problem at all. Two very different motors. Still seeking someone who has some first hand information

True if they are the same height, but the width adds to teh weight, which in turn slows the truck by sucking more power from the engine to turn the tires. You have to dump more gas into teh engine to turn them, so the gas mileage goes down.

It wil probably go down one or two mpg
bikebumIII 10-29-2004, 09:04 PM I have a 1998 v6 tacoma, I have a 3" lift with 32x11.5's BFG muds. I have a 3" back spacing. I am getting 16.7mpg in town with stock gears. I do have the K&N filter charger system installed. I test drove a exact same year and setup truck with 33x12.5's BFG ATR'S and it seemed to lag, and with the same lift the front right tire rubbed when turning right up hill or in reverse. Hope this helps...Hey you went SAS? What axle are you running? I am trying to find out any info on this because I am looking to do this but am confused. Any info on that topic would be sweet. Thanks...George, reach me at disastergrafix@yahoo.com
