Alright, got the rear dana60 and front 44 hooked up, front brakes are done, running rear lines righht now. Have searched endlessly, nowhere does anyone mention what M/C they end up using. Just from past experience I am thinking the 7/8 bore cylinder is not going to be happy pushing four big calipers.
Thinking maybe make an adpater plate and use a m/c for a late model 4wdisc brake chevy truck, with 1" or even 1 1/4" bore.
So, whats the popular opinion, what did you use on your swap?
Brian.

I have been told the 79 (I think) firebird is an easy swap and worked great. That was on d44s.

Ok, here is the Subaru legacy one I found that look to be the closest. from a 98 model car. looks to be real close, thanks for the heads up on the m/c. the bore is 1.062 inches, same size line ports, one on top and one on the side.
cost me $68 new, will have to find or make a reservoir for it. May order one to see how it looks to fit.

A M/C off of a 88 ranger pretty much bolts right up. Not 4wdisc though. And you have to adapt the lines if you still have the metric ones.

I use the Legacy M/C with rear discs and Leone calipers. ( Sammy axles )
I fitted a willwood adjustable prop valve but it wasn't enough to get the Bias right.
The Legacy M/C sorted it out, I may even re adjust the prop valve for more in the rear.
Bolts right up, just need to make the push rod longer, I used a 6mm threaded bolt and shaped the end of the bolt on a grinder.
Hah, too easy

for my dana 44 swap I used a master cylinder out of a ford from I think the late 70's. bolted right up, I used the stock pushrod and took out the bold part and got a longer one at the hardware store. I also had to cut the metric ends off the brake lines and re flair the lines with american fittings. I will try to find out what exactly my master came out of. very easy swap, took about 1 hour.

I bought '79 firebird w/ 4-wheel disk and tried to mate it to the Stock brake booster. ... NOT..

The mounting holes didnt line up (to be expected) but the master aluminum housing is too big to fit inside the booster. Either one will have to give. Either grind down the outer aluminum casing so it will fit into the booster, or cut the booster hole larger. OR try and get the firebird booster and see if that can be made to mate up.

Thanks, the legacy m/c is what i am going to try. i still have all the metric brake lines in place, no reason to have to switch them just for a master cyl. I have not had a proportion valve in years, even with the factory brakes, never been a problem yet.
Just have to try it and see.
Off to order the m/c

ok, but doesn't it have sae threads? Since the whole rig is metric lines, including the rubber brake hoses going to the calipers, why have to cut and reflare the ends? Is the firebird m/c just so much better that it is worth the effort to use it?
Does it mount rigth up to the stock booster? or is mods required there also? I kind of liek to use parts that do not need to be modded, at least little as psosible, that way in the middle of nowhere, when it fails the replacement will bolt right on.
Thanks.

I got my master cylinder at a bone yard for pennys. They are really easy to find. I paid 15.00 for it!
