For all three days, I will guess a total of 30,000. That includes spectators, teams, sponsors, staff, the works.

Any other estimates?

I was informed that it was approx 2500-3000 Friday, 6500-7000 Saturday and 3500-4000 on Sunday. That was just spectators. Plus media, entrants and support/track personnel. There was apparently some rotation of spectators, those that came early and left early and others that came in later.

The weather on Sunday probably put a damper on the crowd. Saturday's crowd defintely seemed to be the biggest of the weekend. I know I heard them (the crowd) after I backed out of Obstacle 5 after rolling and trying hard to right it. Fridays numbers aren't surprising given its a work day, actually a little higher then I expected (based on what I was seeing at the event).

At the very least for Saturdays run!!

God there was more people with media passes out on those courses than I've ever seen at an event. I couldn't believe some of them either. :shaking:

A couple very pretty GIRLS wearing those 4 inch flip flops hobbled to the top of one of the most technical courses and I about blew up at how rediculous it all was. I could just see one of them tripping over there own inappropriate shoes and falling under a rig. But at least they had their disposable camera ready so they could take an awesome shot as it all happened. And of course they would look good while it happened . . . .

No it's not jealousy speaking. Just making the point, if your gonna weazel in front of the crowd, then don't be a hazard while your doing it.

I think these numbers are excellent when you look at all the facts. I also believe this is going to help advance our sport.

Friday: like stated, a work day.
Sunday: In Utah, church is nearly never missed by the majority, unless it's harvest weekend :D

Good Job UROC, especially for making the descision to bring D in to get it done. Shuppe, great advice and Mark good job on seeing it all the way through.

Excellent period IMO. Granted, this was "the big one", but that's still a lot of folks :)

I bet the numbers will grow for the next one when the word gets out how cool it was.

Rich, I thought the same thing about the Sunday attendance. When I mentioned it to some of the locals, I was told that "church idea" was a "wives tale".

Just kidding but they did tell me that it is not summarily true. There is a HUGE portion of folks that don't go to church in th area. I was told that more likely the weather was what kept them away. It snowed in the hills the night before and all reports were calling for more rain in the lower levels with wind gusts. We didn't actually GET much of the rain but it was VERY overcast (as can be seen in the pictures) and the wind did kick up frequently. :)

I live in Utah and live for something to do on Sunday.... lot's of us Californians moving to Utah...my bet is a Saturday Sunday event would gather more of a crowd in St George than a Friday, Saturday..... it would be nice to try it and see.

Let me say that I realize that the SLC Basin is different than most of the state. But having lived in Cedar City for over 4 years, I can tell you Sunday in Utah is still Sunday in Utah.......

I'm sure weather and church combined keep many away

Here in Missouri, we have trouble with Saturday afternoon crowds. Lots of folks work Saturdays or at least 1/2 days on Saturdays if they're trying to suck up some OT (or get in crops in the case of farmers). Sunday afternoon is typically at LEAST as good as Saturday afternoon, though Saturday NIGHT is better still.

Edit: And you can forget Friday during the day completely. Friday night is decent, but nowhere near as good as Saturday night.

And you have a beautiful view of the valley below. I still talk about your home. Thanks for the floor space last year during the SuperCrawl! :)

Hmmm. You could be right. Though the Sundays I've been in Cedar for events are very different than the Sunday in SLC. But then that could just be a matter of popuklation differences, comparatively speaking that is. But I was only speaking before based on what the people in Sunday's SC III crowd said when I asked them why there weren't more people there on Sunday. I too thought it was a church thing at first.
