I am wondering where all the good 'wheelin places are in Oregon. Is there a website with a listing, or something of this nature someone could direct me to? Thanks. Oh, and yes, I tried searching.

Most from the Portland area go to TSF. It is about 30 mi outside portland off of Highway 6.

I live in Newberg (between McMinnville and Tigard), but right now I'm in Corvallis for school. I've been to the Trask, and to Brown's Camp, and want to go to Tillamook some time soon.

I was just in Newberg getting metal.

I live in Gaston. (5 miles south of Forest Grove)

unfortunately, I dont get to go wheeling often. But if you check out one or both of the web sites above, there are a few people around the area that go wheeling more often. I think I MAY be going next weekend. If all goes well.

There is no point to having a clean rig if you are planning on wheeling in the NW. My 84 toy pickup started out clean but I have put a dent in pretty much every panel. Inless then two years thanks to all the tight trees.
-I am in a club called the brush busters we go out once a month.
-but a few people that I wheel with go out about once a week.
-we mainly go to the brown camp area, the trask, or the north side of highway 6.
-the most difficult part is finding the trails that are challenging. they are out there
send a phone number we could hook up and go run some trails.

Brown's Camp is in the Tillamook OHV. Or if you want sand there's Sandlake which is south of the town of Tillamook.

I know this is a little off topic but what are the Ultimate Pirate Adventure dates for Tillamook and Sandlakes? We are thinking of loading the Jeep and running down in the motorhome for that.

I really think it all has alot more to do with drivers ability. My comments and his, along with yours have no real basis since my jeep isnt stock and neither are the toys. We can all list equipment and skills but the bottom line is unless the wheelbase adds a substancial advantage it is a mood point. Our broad statements are designed to spur discontent between the two groups of vehicle brand loyalty. So its all in good RAZZIN FUN. Are you guys planning on running with the Pirate tour for a little while? The ol lady and I plan on doing it from Oregon to North of Seattle, Walker Valley and Reiter pit I believe. I cant wait for the Naches run. Its a blast at Funny and Moon Rocks.

P.S. dont tell anyone but I like Toyotas.

notcrazyjustNuTz
02-02-2002, 10:41 PM
We will all three be at Browns Camp pretty sure. One of the guys likely won't go on with "the tour" as he will probably have to head home to fix his Toyota :flipoff2:

Really though, I'm not sure about all three of us continuing on from there but me, if I hook up with some cool people that are heading for some good wheelin' I'm in :D :jeep:

Been watching this thread as I'm from the PNW and have gone to the Coast to wheel. What's this about a Pirate tour from Portland to Seattle and points north?

I think that people outside the NW will start to get it when they wheel TSF and Trask. It's a wheelbase thing. Of course it sounds like the Pirate tour de force is happening in the summer so maybe they'll laugh at us when the slop dries .

Actually it is neither. Mini Rubicon and Rock Garden are two completely different obstacles there besides that one. Not even sure what they call that man made gravel road. :D :D

alot of trails out in the trask give some problems for the shorter rigs, but it mostly depends on the driver. tjoop proved that on air plain hill last summer.

You are right todd just ran cedar log trail yesterday 2/02 there is more than 2 feet of snow and when I droped into the pit to drive over the log it splashed over my hood.

should be going out. send a private message with phone number that I can get a hold of you on your pager does'nt seem to work very well.

I also broke trail up to the radio tower above firebreak five none had made it even close to the top. There is more than five feet of snow up there. was a blast breaking trail. my MTRs were kicking ass all day in the snow everyone else I was with had boggers, and I pretty much left them in my dust .

Did you have your wheels done or buy then already done? If you sent yours in, how was your experience with them? Cost, service, turn around time, product, ect...?

Bought them already done. From that though I can say the service was great, wheels went out same day. Quality is top notch. No complaints at all.

Well with the financial estimate in at 600 for fuel just for the m/h we have decided to start closer to home and enjoy the local stuff we havent tried yet.

Tjoop we still need to hook up down there. We are still planning a weekend run to sandlakes and tillamook, sometime in June and want to hook up with ya. Any or all of you would be cool, even if you drive a toyota:flipoff2: :D

But of course not(not mind that is). We would be glad to have a fellow wheeler come along. I am assuming you would wheel your rig? The offer still stands if not but the rear seat in the 5 is a tight fit. We had a 5ft 8in skinny guy in the back all day once but he was uncomfy cause he broke his rig and we hadnt planned for a riderso a big cooler was on the floor. If it is planned there would be plenty room. If you ever stop by the house to see Allie you should jump back and see.:D

Anyone heading out next weekend, the 16th? I got Friday off and was wanting to head out to the Tilly then or Sat. don't have anyone to go with yet and don't usually like to go solo. I did 2 weeks ago up to Nicolai Mt. Went in the ditch twice in 2-3 feet of snow, fortunatly there was someone up there I could put the strap on so didn't have to dig out.
The runners working pretty good right now. I have plenty of spare birfs.
