I need a couple pieces machined for an axle i'm building, and i need a piece of 3" solid, round 4130. Anyone know a good place, I only need about 2'.

Thanks.

Did you get my fax yesterday? I found a solution for my problem, and redesigned the housing today. Should be a working axle by the end of next week. Only thing holding me up is this 4130, then getting it broached.

Yellow pages - look under Steel Distributors. I couldn't find anyone under Metal  but plent under Steel. Guy I found locally here has lots of cro-mo stuff. If you can't find anything (and I'd be shocked) lemme know and I'll see if I can get it here quickly & reasonably priced.

This place has everything you can possibly think of. I can have their phone # for you tomorrow and possibly a part #. I have bought 2" from them before.

The McMaster-Carr catalog is a great way to get a feel for the price of something. They charge two to three times what it will cost if you hunt around (maybe four times for metal). But they do have everything, and they have it ready to ship NOW.
