IMO, this is one of those tools that there is no middle of line bandsaw's. There are either cheap, crappy ones $200-300, and there are nice expensive ones $600+.

I had a small one like that for about a week, just did not cut what i needed, so i said forget it.

I have a Clarke, uses a 3/4x93" blade, will cut 12x7. Cost about $800 new, but picked it up on same as cash at tractor supply.

Grizzly sells stuff under the Shop Fox name, that looks like one. It's the same or very similar to the HF standard we all have.

For me, $199 is too much when Hf has them on sale periodically for less.

i think i caught mine (HF) for about $100-150. of course, i went through crap blades like toilet paper, even got the cheap starret blade for the good starret price from an overpriced tool shop nearby, then found out it was the cheap one when it sucked. now i've got a good bimetal blade, but i've got to be careful, i tend to overtighten the blade guides...it sucks when you bend a brand new blade. sucks even more when you can't figure out how to get it to chop straight down and waste metal...

I have been using one of these since mid summer, uses standard 44 7/8 blades and kicks ass with ability to easily miter. Great fawkin tool. Makes a Milwaukee or PC with the cobbeled together stand look like a POS.

Find one, love it, cuddle it and treat it right:flipoff2:

review on the jet

Oh yeah, does it cut metal?
It's not as fast as an abrasive chopsaw, but it leaves near perfect edges. It doesn't heat the metal much. It's pretty quiet except on angle iron which can make quite a racket.

Example of the clean cut: I shortened a stainless bolt and the the resulting end threads were still nice enough to thread a nut on with no resistance. I had put a nut on during the cut to back off and clean up any burr but I was able to spin it off with one flick of my finger.

250 Day Update
After the saw sat idle for a few months I fired it up to make some cuts and found it had developed an alarming vibration. I checked the drive pulleys and discovered that they were neither parallel nor coplanar, and the mounting plate was loose at the pivot, allowing it to twist as the tensioner was tightened. I'm assuming all of these factors are interrelated. I tightened up the bolts that form the hinge of the pivot plate, and I completely repositioned the motor on the plate to align the pulleys. The vibration went away.
