Trying to be lazy and save myself some time here since Moab is so damn close this year......

Anyone have any good info on the mating of the Samurai tcase to the Sidekick tcase?

There's gotta be a way to do it without having to eat up a full work week taking mind stimulants for divine revelation.

OTT has the adapter to do it, but I think you need to be running a kick tranny and its a little longer than stock (6 inches???). Rick or Airzuki can give you the details.

OTT has the kick to a divorced sammy case.. I think Rocky here is talking about mating the two. From what I know, nobody has done this... OTT mates the Toy case to a kick t-case... that's it. :roxy:

The OTT Kicker 2-Sami is being built (in process) right now
It will mate a Samurai t-case directly to the modified Kicker low range box...
As soon as it's done Rick will post pics to the OTT site.......

Whoa.....for a second...I thought you were going to tell us you got the 6.1 Kick t-case....from our Gear Guy....before we got them.....lol

He is working on a Single Box Dual t-case too....
use any combo of gears....stock/4.1/4.89/6.1 X's "2"

then when I read your post......it still shocked me.....I thought you of all wheelers (even as a "Newbie") would know all...about this....hehe

see we're never too smart to learn something....

btw...check this out.....Glenn has these too....

The Samurai intermediate shaft slides into the output of the TracKick t-case. Shorten the shaft, KEEP TWO U-JOINTS, and away you go.

Mind how short you make the shaft, servicability is important.

Fangle up the frame mounts for the second case. Shouldn't be harder than that...

Glenn just ask Shaffer, you know he has done it.

Nah.... couldn't be that easy, could it?

I'll be checking it out manana I guess. Muchos gracias for the tip!

Bill,
I though Mike had the 1.8 Sport engine/tranny setup? I don't think I've seen his rig for some time. Haven't checked out what he has on there now.

One of the local guys here just picked up an extra sammy that he is going to do the same hing to. We are going with a 8v 1.6 with an auto tranny, move the t-case back and then lengthen the wheelbase to use stock length driveshafts (for ease of replacement). He wants to do the flatbed thing with a fuel cell, so axle placement won't be a problem.
Man, I love new projects...:roxy:

THIS will be the Hot Ticket:D
FWIW, If I could have mated a 1.6L 5-speed to my VW diesel, I would have gone this route. IF the "new" VW diesel kit uses the 1.6L tranny, folks will be in bidness:grinpimp:

Rocky Road & Root Moose,
Rick from OTT used (still has?) to have the kick with t'case with a short intermediary shaft to a stock case in his LWB sami. Yes it is that "easy" in concept but the main headache (and it is this big :flipoff2:)is shimming the t'case right to eliminate vibration from the short shaft. Keeping in mind this was a long wheel base. OTT (before OTT) did it 10 yrs ago (or more) with toy diffs. Just thought I'd let you know.
