What combo will give the shortest driveline(longest driveshaft) in a Jeep & still be able to handle a V8 and big swampers? I'm wondering for both an automatic & manual.:jeep:

short input shaft t18 with a d20 x-case using a stock jeep t18/d20 adapter. these are pretty short.

the sm420 tranny is short but not a lot of t-case for it in a stock form

Not sure on the exact length but I put a small block chev/sm465/np205 combo in my TJ and ended up with the rear driveshaft about 3 inches longer than my stock combo W/RE slip yoke eliminator.

I have a Small Block, NV4500 and D300 and my rear shaft is about 18 inches. I have 12" of suspension lift and 38's.

The NV is 12.375 long and the D300 is about 12", the bellhousing is 6".

Hope this helps..

I believe that the SM420 is the shortest, and has the lowest 1st gear.
