Tha last guy didn't tell me much on what I need for a 8 lug conversion on a 91 dodge with a dana 44, so could someone give me an idea as to what parts I need to do this change over. Is it not as simple to just change the hubs than to change out everything from ball joints out?? Will a chev or ford 8 lug hub fit my dodge??

Thanks, good references. I just got all the stuff, I think. Last night from a guy locally. I just need locking hubs and I will be there. Thanks. I will soon have my 8 lug stuff from my dodge axle which is a 93, that apparently is hard to find. Thanks guys..

Is the 5 lug dana 44 a 5 on 4.5 or 5 on 5.5? I think it is 5 on 4.5 but not sure. And what kind of truck did it come out of?

Depends. Certain years had one or the other. I am not enough of a dodge nerd to tell you which. The full time trucks with unit wheel bearings in front were 5x4.5. The part time trucks were 5x5.5 most if not all. I have heard the unit bearing are prone to wear, and are expensive to replace. The 5.5 part time axle is preferred. 84-85ish I believe had CAD as well. Please dodge elders chime in.

i can tell you that the dodge rc front end 5on4.5 is hard to find, at least when i was looking for them. the 8 lug fulltime is easy to find - nobody wants it.

my 91 is a 5 on 5.5...with 3.55 gears. Would swap out whole front end with someone with 8 lug and 4.10s
