Ok heres the info on whats going on:

transmisson was rebuitl a year ago. new everything inside. When i drive for about 30 miles at 60-65mph the tranny blows out the fluid. I believe it is coming out of the top of the tranny. it then runs down and hits the exhaust giving me a sweet smoke trail. The transmission is hot when i stop and the fluid all looks black. i know that is it black from it getting hot, but I dont know why it is getting hot. The tranny is a auto, if any other info is needed please ask. Thanks for your help:

Some things to check.
1 Cooler in the Radiator is pluged.
2 To much trans fluid, over full.
3 Clutchs in trans slipping.
4 Filter in trans clogged.
How many times have you changed the fluid since you did the rebuild.

are you sure its out of the transmition and not the transfer case vent- located center of the firewall ? It also uses atf. (i had a tcase spuing just like you described.)

you need to find exactly where the fluid is coming from to be able figure this out. Is it from the vent on top of the trans? Is it from the bellhousing like a pump seal? when you service the trans how much fluid do you put into it? Where did you get that number? Are you sure that is a number that doesn't include draining the converter? etc, etc......

I would say you are over filling it as a guess.
