i have a 86 bronco thAT I SWAPPED A 1990 5.8 into and would like to put onboard air on it and i think a york would be the best choice. does anybody make a braket that elimnates the factory compressor. i dont have ac and dont plan on putting it in since this isnt my dialy driver and i dont run a top. i know bronco air sells a bracket that bolts to the factory ac compressor but i dont want to suck anymore power than i have too so i would rather ditch the factory compressor.

either putting a york on it or using your existing sanden is going to suck power from your engine but it will only suck power while using the compressor its not like a/c running all the time.

another reason i dont want to use the broncoair.com braket is because it looks like it goes right over the steering pumo making access kind of a pain in they ass. and theres no us haveing two compressors on if i only use one rarely. im sure that extra pulley is going to take some power cause its not like spinning then tensioner pulley there is some resistance there.

anybody make there own braket to eliminate the factory compressor?

Do the stock compresors hold up for air compressor use? I know the one on my chevy didnt. We are building a '90 bronco and was going to ditch the compressor unless it can be used for onboard air?

It can but you need an inline oiler that is a must. They work good enough to air tires up as long as you have a decent tank and automatic valve for regulating the on off

A/C doesn't run all the time, it has the same mag clutch thing on it that one converted to air duties would.

Some vehicles are wired to run the a/c with the defrost, but you can just unplug the mag clutch to fix that "issue".
