Im looking for a really nicely done rodeo sas with chevy axles.

My dad has a 96 4wd rodeo with the v6 and 180,000 miles on it. its also an auto.

i was wondering if it is possible to get a 350/465/205 in there and make it look, drive, and feel great. i have everything from a mid 70s blazer that i am using in my scout, but i think i am going to scrap the scout for something newer and nicer. with that said, i would like to use the D44 and 12bolt axles along with that drivetrain listed above.

also as another option what kind of abuse can the stock drivetrain handle? if wew were to just do the suspension and axles(5.13) and some 36-37" tires would everything hold up. what would give up first (dont say the chebby 12bolt) the tranny/xcase. . .engine??

if he (we) decide to do something like this it would be on a much higher budget than i myself have, so it would probably consist of 4 link rear and 3 link front. does anyone know what springs would work in this application? i am thinking 4.5" EB springs in the front and a possible 4-4.5 xj coil in the rear (although the xj may be too stiff). i would be looking for somewhere in the range of 6" of lift over stock.

thanks if you can help,
Callen

I've put my stock 3.2L, manual tranny, and dual Isuzu tcases through the paces with 38"x13" TSL rubber for 2 years now. I've cracked my tcase adapter and damage some tcase gears before, but most of that has been due to vibes and highway driving. I haven't had a problem since i solved that with CV driveshaft.

I do however worry about the strength of my aluminum tranny/tcases under the 38" rubber and 1 ton running gear. I have plans to swap this out in the future for something stronger. my advice would be to stay around 35-36" tires or below in order not to worry about the stock driveline.

As said above, picts of my rig can be found at www.isuzu4x.com
