I now have my 4.3 vortec that I believe will bolt up in the same spot as my 3.8 buick (I love chevy). I would like to run a turbo 350 behind this motor but 24.6 inches with adap. sounds like it will be way too long. I am running the model 18 transfer. and it would seem that the rear driveline would be at a steep angle. My other option is to run my sm465 tranny with a hydraulic clutch. Although the 465 has a great 1st gear ratio I think the auto. combo would be ok considering 5.38 gears and 3.15 transfer.
My questions are is the turbo 350 going to be a pain due to length probs.
Is the sm465 going to make me wheel "that" much better? Maybe I'm getting old but damn it would be sweet with an auto. tranny. Any opinions/suggestions welcome. Thanks
Mike

You should be fine with the th350 and that short 4.3. I'm running a C4 and D300 behind a 5.0 V8 in my flatfender. The C4 to D300 adapter it'self is 6" long. My rear driveshaft is only 12". That 4.3 is much shorter than my 5.0 so you should be fine. I mounted everything pretty low in the frame and run a Tom Woods shorty CV driveshaft. (you will probably need one of these). Good luck and feel free to ask if you have any more questions (I spent months sorting the whole driveline length thing out).

Oh and the Advanced Adapters catalog is an awsome source to find the lengths of all the drivetrain parts and adapters so you can do some measuring.
