now i've had a few people ask about ticket numbers. between workign 10 hours a day and running this, it will be very difficult to e-mail everyon back with specific numbers, there's already over 90 people! What i'm doing is tracking everyone in an Excel Spreeadsheet. If someone is willing to host a modified version of it (not showing e-mails and other info) for all to veiw it would be a world class help! i would try to make sure there was a new copy up daily so everyone can veiw there number's themselves, and save me a HUGE ammount of time

But, you might want to have outside help in the drawing to avoid potential problems/complaints (just a precaution you might consider, we all know this money is for Nick, but problems may still arise).

A second thought: Once Nick is taken care of, if there is left over money we might consider using it to start a fund to help others in our sport (injuries on the trail, at events, etc . . .). Accidents are bound to happen, if we can get this set up and organized now, and have occasioinal raffles to raise money for the fund, I think that would be a great support to our community.

No way is there going to be money left over. Assuming this is not covered by any insurance....... Hospitals are FRICKEN expensive! Heck my daughter was a Premie and the bill was $85,000 before insurance, And thats cheap for a Premie. I've heard of million dollar premies.... My daughter was only 6 weeks early. My wife was in the hospital for 1 week and my daughter was in for another 3 weeks....... Thats a little over 3K a day and there was NO surgeries.... I was lucky to have insurance and only ended up paying $4,000 out of my own pocket.......

Not trying to side track this thread - Just stating the fact that medical care and surgery is expensive.

My opinion is its up to Nick if there is any money left over. There is also costs involved with getting his family to his bedside and lost wages.......

I agree, I doubt this raffle will raise enough to cover the bills, 4 years ago I spent 5 days in a hospital, 4 of which was in ICU for a mild Heart Attack. The total bill came to a bit over $60k, fortunately I have very good insurance and my out of pocket expenses came to around $1k. I may have to hold off on some additional upgrades to my 4Runner to donate more $$$. I finally read the thread on the extent of his injuries and glad to hear he's getting better.

I would like to challenge each and every Suppercrawl team to pony up $100. This could have happened to any one of us. We or our sponsors, paid $550 to enter and we all spent $1000’s more just to get there. With all that considered $100 is not much. I just did a rough calculation on ticket sales and came up with around $8000 so far. This is great but if every Suppercrawl team put in $100 that would add up to $10,000!

After spending my entire day in the hospital for my yearly spinal cord injury physical, something came to mind driving back.

i've been asked quite a few time's why i was so quick to leave my rig sitting at the comp, with courses left to run, and head to the hospital, and to get this raffle going before he was even out of surgery.

well here's the reason - yea, it's a lil deep...

i've been in nick's shoes before. almost exactly, though he's healing better htan I did. I know what it's like to sit 93 day's in a hospital with nothing to do, and not be able to move or even sit up to get comfortable, and to see someone i know/live/work with go through it kinda hit home.

Just talked with Nick's Dad, Hopefully Nick will be posting up about his progress and conditions soon, and when he's able to walk out of his house, so he can do the drawing :D

The wound theropy has cleaned up my arms and will probably end in a week or so. The skin graphs are looking good (for skin graphs) and there are just a couple of dime sized open wounds on the back of my hand.

The hand theropy is still going. All my fingers wiggle but stll are far from regular function. We're also working on getting my arms straight, the right is about 10 deg off straight and the left is about 30. I'm heading to a hand specialist tomorrow to check out the status of how the nerve is healing and when we can remove the pins and wires. Also to see if I can be reduced to just a wrist splint.

The physical theropy for now is stretching my legs and some simple leg strengthening exersizes for my weight bearing leg. We also work on stability, it's hard to stand with just one bed ridden leg. There is some pain where the break is after I sit, the x-rays still show that there's a little gap in the break but can be weight bearing due to the rod. I'm heading to the ortho Dr. next wednesday and will hopefully be cleared to bear weight on both legs depending upon how the pelvis and fibula x-ray looks. Then learn how to walk again.

As the raffle site says, the numbers will be drawn as soon as I can be mobile enough to do it in person. I am doing my best to get moving around enough and find a near by date (I have daily appointments) to take the trip up to Shaffer's shop (which is 2hrs. from here) and pull #'s.
