I can not get the three speed t case off of the tranny! I have removed all five bolts and tried a puller to press off the tranny. It will only go about 1/4 inch and then it stops. I do not remember any clips etc in there right. This really sucks because I have a buyer for the tranny and the t case and they are not the same people. How about tricks?:mad3:

hey mike!
use a BFH and smack the output shaft of the trans. pretty common that the bearing in the rear of the t-case seizes onto the shaft. just be careful not to damage the threads on the output. i normally try to pry the trans and t-case apart as far as possible and then put some steel plates between them to take up the slack. a few good whacks with the hammer and she should pop loose.
still interested in the 45 rear springs? i've got a stock set that's in good condition sitting in my garage. georg

i just split mine take out the five bolts, pull off the big nut on the tail shaft grab, then hand tight it back on, grab a piece of wood to protect the metal and hit it with a hammer.:D

One time I installed the transfer with a new bearing, and being a dumbass, did not insert the PTO spacer. The only way I could separate the two was with a little "gentle" persuasion from my crow bar (tommy bar). If you try this, be VERY careful, so as not to dent or damage the aluminum transfer mating surfaces. Def a last resort.

Well..... yes after I spent several hours screwing with the thing. I forgot about that spacer and the nut. I am not sure what I was thinking! It was one of those things. I put it down and came back to it later and it all made perfect sense. It was a light bulb experience. I feel like a dumb ass!

betcha you'll remember it next time. i've had my transfer case off numerous times and it only took one time of not remembering that nut to never forget it again.
