1998 Chevy Suburban 5.7 vortech-

Windshield wipers work intermittently, wipers lock up and end in odd positions, seem to have mind of their own. What could cause this??

actually there is a computer board inside the motor, it is behind the black cover, all you have to do is replace it, I have done it on about 5-6 chevy trucks, both personal and company. I think it is under $20, and they call it the windshield wiper board.

pulse module is the gm name for it check with local dealer see if you can fall into recall on them they keep adding more vechiles to the list on the recall
otherwise they are not expensive they can even be repaired it is just a cold solder joint on the printed curcuit

Same problem on my 97. Just changed the pulse board this morning. Problem solved. I am a believer!

BTW, my local dealer said the recall ended in March of this year for my '97. I think he was FOS. :mad3:

Glad I found out about the pulse board.
