I'll post a .dxf if anyone wants it.
bignissan 10-26-2004, 01:38 AM that is sweet!
stomper4x4 10-26-2004, 02:33 AM very cool :grinpimp:
the .dxf would be even cooler :grinpimp:
rugburn 10-26-2004, 07:38 AM DXF would be great Brook
jeepnmatt 10-26-2004, 08:48 AM how did you put the º markings on it?
how did you put the º markings on it?
Slap it on a rotary table, chuck up a counter sink, and mill a line every degree?
fabcam 10-26-2004, 09:09 AM That looks great. Nice job.
Brian1 10-26-2004, 11:28 AM That is sweet! I could use the dxf file if you post it.
if someone is going to make a batch of them.. let me know the cost and ill pay for it..
bgreen 10-26-2004, 08:06 PM I'll post the DXF some time later this week.
The degree marks were cut in the same setup I cut the ring with. CNC 2.5 axis mill... That means I had to raise and lower the qill by hand for every one of those lines :p
No reason you couldnt do it with a rotary table though. Or lay it out by hand, and use an engraving tool to mark the wheel.
youngladdy 10-26-2004, 09:28 PM all I can say is...wow
70~K5 10-27-2004, 12:34 AM WOW. Wouldn't it be easier to start with a degree wheel like the big ones for setting up cams and build off of that?

It might just be easyer, but then wheres the fun in that :flipoff2:

It depends on what you think your time is worth.

That's cool, but that appears to be a printed ring.. So get it messy a few times, and the markings will disappear on you.

Put some clear pastic over the top, either stick on or maybe a piece of lexan. Replace as needed.
bgreen 10-27-2004, 08:33 PM I infact have that exact same degree wheel. a 1" spacer to clear the die pins, and you'd be set.
But that wouldnt match my clamps :flipoff2:

bgreen 11-01-2004, 12:21 AM well. Im a little late, but here is the DXF
still havent had time to do the pointer, but you can figure that out I guess.
All I ask, is that you dont use this to make money. If you want to make money on something, design it yourself ya lazy bastard. :flipoff2:
http://www.akfabshop.com/Junk/DEGREERING.DXF
so someone get it and make it for me with no profit.. like what bgreen said :D
so email me the prices
still need to weld up the bender stand and hookup the air/hydro jack then buy the die.. slowly finishing that project.. depends on budget

First of all - very nice of you to do this and pass it along for free; very much in the spirit of things.
Ahm prolly splitting hairs here, but wanted to get your feedback as user of this degree ring. Do the tick marks line up with any registration line or tick mark on the movable part of the bender? Would an offset of the tick marks equvalent in distance from the centerline to the outside of base piece that passes closest to the degree ring help?
You've used it, tell me if ahm a crack monkey -
Thanks Geesh
bgreen 11-02-2004, 10:25 PM Im more than happy to pass along info such as this for free. Certain things I cant justify it, but more often than not, I am more than willing to tell people what ever they want to know about the stuff I design and build. If there is ever a question anyone has about any of my posts, they should feel free to pm me about it. Im no super fabricator, but I can do a thing or two around the shop :p
In regards to your question. no. There is no mark on the die or any other rotating member that registers to the degree ring. I intend to show how I will make this registration in the future, but have been too busy lately to even mount the bender back to the floor. Stay tuned.

Very true. I have asked you a few quesitons about making things before and you answered them for me right away. Thanks.
hotcowboy76 12-18-2004, 04:31 PM so any update on the pointer?

I've got to believe this would be the biggest pain in the ass in making these things. What would you think about printing these out on sticker paper or clear plastic that is sticky on the back side. I could develop a software program that would ask for the outside and inside diameter of the degree ring and then print out. It would need to be done in atleast 2 sections because of the diameter we are talking about. I realize that it would look as good and not be as durable but it would be cheap and fast.
What do you all think about that?
hotcowboy76 12-20-2004, 04:05 PM I made mine the other day, used a degree wheel for a cam from summit something like 20 bucks shipped. Put it on the bottom of the lower arm it fit right over the main pin, then I drilled a hole and screwed it in! EASY!! If anyone wants more info or pics I got them! :grinpimp:
Take the dxf to Kinko's and have them print it out as big as you want. Have them laminate it and glue that shit to some wood you cut out with a jigsaw. No need to waste that bling bling aluminum.

Sounds like a good idea. Do it!
Bmf24 01-08-2005, 06:40 PM how do you save the dxf file?
