pulled a front axle out of a 78 ford f250 this morning at the U Pull It yard. Not knowing much about fords or their components i turn to yall for help. it appears to be a reverse rotation dana 60 but no where on the housing is it stamped 60. here what there is stamped:
on diff itself-
620093R
322
the letters NO inside a diamond shape
on axle tube-
3 27 8 8A
6100232
the truck had a build plate in the door jamb that says-
133 WB
F266 Type/G.V.W.
G94 Body
A Trans
37R Axle
08400 Max GVW
1978 17
i hope this gives you something to work with.
oh yeah, whats this axle worth complete from hub to hub. since i was looking for other parts i will probably be parting it out for spares or selling it complete since i have a front 60.
thanks,
mike

It's a 60, with 3.54 gears
how much did you pay for it? how much do you want to sell it for?

i bought it because from the size of the diff cover i suspected it was a dana 60. it was considerably larger then the d44 cover. it also had 8 lugs and had king pins so i was pretty sure it was a d60. and if you want to know the truth, for what i paid for it complete with brakes, hubs, sway bar, etc. even if i was wrong there would be no harm done. lets just say that i paid less then what a new R&P alone would cost. it is an open 3.54 ratio. as i pulled the cover and the gears look great and are stamped 46 13.

So how much $$. I could pick it up tomorrow, if the price is right.

I've got a line on a D60 rear end that I am trying to find information on. The BOM doesn't appear to be on any of the lists.
On the webbing, it is stamped c32501 on one corner, D60 on another, and 7352 on another.
The date code and BOM on the long side shaft reads 060AA100-4 and 113 98 A. Thanks for the help,

Should read 610023-2
And yes a 3.54 Dana-60 open diff.
Demon4x4: the BOM seems wrong, too many digits and there shouldn't be any letters.

Hmm, well there are two rear D60's in my garage and both are stamped the same way on the long side tube. One says 060AA100-4 and the other 060AA100-2. They are both empty housings with about 53" length. Does it really matter what the BOM is if they are empty? I can just fill it with whatever I want, right? I was wanting to go with Chevy 8 lug FF disc braked outers. The only thing I really wanted to make sure on was that 30 spline axle shafts would fit, hopefully not just the 19 splines.
