I am looking at an 85 FJ60 that is really clean. Minimal rust in the usual places but my friend that owns a body shop says that it is really clean for an FJ60. The interior is nice, just normal wear and tear but no rips or cracks. The only hesitation that I have is that there is a slight knock coming from the top of the engine. Is this normal? If not, what could it be? The truck only has 130K on it and I have talked to the wife of the original owner and she said that it had always been reliable. It was a one owner family, the man that had it bought it from his brother and it was well maintained. They are asking $3500. What are you guys thoughts on this? Any help is greatly appreciated. I already have big plans for it and am still trying to decide if I should buy it.

Is it a knock or more of a ticking sound? If the valves are loose they will clatter and make sort of a ticking sound. Much better to have them loose than too tight.

One post in 6 months; that's gotta be a record! :flipoff2:

Why not just pay a mechanic to adjust the valves to eliminate that question. If the noise goes away, be happy and buy it. If the noise doesn't go away, consider how much money you saved not buying it. FJ60s are cheap these days, but motors are still big $$. Just ask MAF!

BTW, you owe us a newbie intro, fawker!
