What Caster angle do scouts run when SOA? And what's the front spring perch width? I tried the search but it keeps timing out. I'm trying to sell a Chevy D-44 set up for scout axles and SOA, and want to double check my numbers.

The 800A runs about 5 degrees caster, and the pinion points more or less at the t-case. However, that's cuz I ground out the welds on the knuckles and turned them to increase caster (front end is a SII disc D44 and run a double-cardan shaft).
Stock they have zero degrees caster.

Are you trying to SELL or SET up the Chev D44??
Check Hooper's site, he did a decent write when we did his cut down Chev D44, and I *think* he included the numbers of what we cut it down to (3.5" on one side, 3.25 the other, IIRC)
HOWEVER, DO NOT USE HIS TWIST AND SHIM NUBERS AS GOSIPEL, EVREY SOA is defferent, best thing to do is set up your springs how you want them (RS, lift, what ever), place the UNCUT GM D44 undernieth, and estimate what angle you need to re-cut the perches to get your desired pinion angle.
Cut, grind, weld, shim the perches to get you desired pinion postion, place under truck and test fit if you have to. After your happy with the pinion (place truck wieght on springs), then cut the tubes down, and hammer the yokes back on and set your pinion angle (angle finder on the ball-joint pad will work to set it, make sure truck is level first). Between 2º and 7º is prefered.
Measure, test, check and double check, then tack, and test fit again.
Easy :D
BTW, Scout springs are 2" wide (GM 2.5"), Scout spring center is 30.5", (GM 31.5"). Easiest way (IMO) is to place 1/4" shims on each side of the Scout spring pack and use the u-bolt chanels and spacing for the GM axle you are using.
FYI, there are also TWO style of GM axle. The 2.75" tube and the 3" tube. Make sure you get the right U-bolts. For the 2.75" tube ask for a pre-'77 kit, for the 3", try '78 or later (yes I know they were 10-bolts, but they had 3" tubes as well).
hope that helps.

Thanks alot, that is great info.
And I am selling the front housing, it is all ready set up. I had it made for My CJ thinking I was going to outboard my springs but decided not to. It's in the for sale forum.
