was wondering if the ready welder is a unit i can use at home, done alot of reading on it,and it seems that it is most usefull on the trail,if i had a welder already at home it looks like i could use it with that, but i dont.is it possable or logical to use it at home running it off my trucks battery, and burning gas to keep the batteries charged,or would you think that a 220 unit is better off considering most of my welding would be done at home.any one use the ready welder at home. help!!!! thanx all

You are comparing a stick welder to a MIG welder. MIGs are auto wire-feed, stick welders are the ones where you use a rod.

Just bought a MM 175 from Indiana Oxygen too. I had to pay taxes though :(
They were a good bunch of people while I was picking it up, more than I can say for some of the shops in my immediate area.

I'd say any of the 220V mig welders from Hobart, Miller, and Lincoln are good machine, and perfect for an all-around home welder. I admit a preference to Miller myself, for their ruggedness.
