Plastic version of the old metal rails from Sears. They have a spring loaded ball just like a ratchet that holds them in.

I like these too. They also are sized at the bottom to match the size marked at the top of the peg.

Ive tried just about everything out there, these are by far the best that Ive found. They are labeled, you dont need two hands to grab a socket like snapin or magnetic rails, and the bottom of the "peg" is the same OD as the socket size. Helps w/ getting sockets on the correct peg. Search ebay for "Hansen Socket Tray"

Those are what I like too. Only downside is the smaller pegs are very fragile when dealing with 1/4" drive versions.

There are sets of those Hansen holders on sale at sears.com till Oct 30 - cheaper than ebay and you get a rebate on the shipping
Those are cool for the home, but on the trail, I prefer the cheap metal snap ones. They suck to remove the socket with slick hands, but at least I know they won't come off too easy when making a field repair and roll away when I need it later.

I like the plastic rail types where the socket snaps on with the ball. They hold secure enough to keep the sockets on the rail, let me take one rail at a time wherever I go (even stay on in my trail kit bag!) and yet they are easy to remove with oily fingers.
Matco has some here: http://www.matcotools.com/Catalog/toolcatalog.jsp?cat=2445&cattype=T&page=4
Sears also sells some that are similar.
I've used the old metal rails and clips for years and I am SO sick of them - they either stick so hard that I can't get a socket on or off, or they are so loose that the sockets fall off when I carry the rail. The end sockets are always falling off the rail - major PITA. Anyone want to buy a large assortment? I prolly have 30 of them...

I like the plastic rail types where the socket snaps on with the ball too. My problem with the pre-defined plastic peg ones is I have so many sockets of various types that I'd have too many holders with too many open spaces and other sockets loose. You can also mix/match sockets on one rail with them. I hate those metal clip ones for the same reasons mentioned previously.
I've got some of the Hansen pegs but they're fragile as mentioned and not easily portable. Also inflexible because the 3/8's don't go large enough, so I find myself stacking sockets on the wrong labels

I stopped at sears and bought 18 of those peg things, I like them. I filled them all for the most part, need to pick up a few more yet. Ive got room now to lay them out, I bought another box just for sockets and ratchets. my big one was geting cluttered.

Picked these up off the Mac or Matco truck, I think Sears sells them now. I like the low profile. I put little size stickers on for quick access :D .

For my main set of sockets in the rollaway I like the Hansen peg setup. Easy to read the size from the top. I have them in 1/2" and 3/8"s so far. For my 1/2" drive impact set I like the orange flat mag tray excepct the larger sizes will fall of it if I'm not careful. I like the plastic rail with the ball but need extra pegs to fill up the rails. For my trail set of 3/8" short sockets they're in the plastic rail they came with from sears. And my deep set of 3/8" trail sockets are in a old snap on tray with the handle that holds them in.

In my tool box i just made dividers for the smaller drawers that allow me to organize the sockets largest to smallest by drive size.

I use the Hansen ones too...pretty hard to beat if they stay in the toolbox.
I also like the plastic ones with the magnetic bottom from snap-on/mac.
They have "x" amount of holes, depending on configuration.
The work well for swivel sockets and the like. I especially like the one for 1/4" deep/shallow sockets. It sticks to the rad support or whatever without dumping its contents.

I like the injection molded cases that SK uses, they lay flat and ou can take the lid off when they are in the toolbox, and put the lid on when you are on the trail.

How tall are the pegs on the Hansen Socket Trays?
I've got alot of drawers in my toolbox so i'd have to make sure they're tall/short enough.
I agree with you "jeeplord" the SK cases rule. I've picked up a bunch of SK for some of the specialty tools needed on my trucks.

These are the other 2,
KRL1001 double bay is going to hold just sockets.
KRL1004 quad bay with KRL1201 and KRL1202 is my big box.
Ive got a hutch, door, and stainless top coming for the orange one.
says not a valid file extention, its a JPG, just like the other picture.
I might have to try and take another pic and try it..

I was at Sears yesterday and looked at the Hansen trays. The 1/2" socket trays are about 3-5/8" tall, 3/8" socket trays are about 3" tall, and 1/4" socket trays are about 2-1/2" tall.
This is about how far they stick out of the socket when installed.

Thank you "Eric" for taking some measurements.
I'll have to go check them out. I spent all day yesterday with a huge pile of my sockets on the ground cleaning and then putting them into either a standard or a metric bin.
I need to get them organized!
Thank you "Shop and Tool Talk."... hehe
