My father just purchased a 47 Willys for a trail rig project for himself. He has asked me to find out what is available to him and what its going to cost. We are in the process of getting the vehicle home and are going to start taking the body off a.s.a.p. He says he wants 60s f/r and SOA definately(if not more, hes still unsure) and he wants to run 38.5 TSL or 39.5 Irok. He is just wondering what will bolt on from other jeeps or is he going to have to custom build alot of the stuff he wants. Thanks for any info. The Willys are new to me so I have no info on the subject but I'm eager to learn.

I agree with that! Everything is custom on a willys. I am working on a 48 and nothing bolts on. For a good read check out Lame's write-up on his rig its pretty nice!

Since the bodies coming off, look at the frame **VERY** closely. Seeing as
you're in the midwest it will probably be very rusty. If it is, seriously look into
making your own replacement frame, or buying a new frame from A.F.W.
Whatever way you go, make sure it's 100% boxed if you're going with D60's
and those size tires.

By the way, what do y'all plan to do with the stock stuff you plan on replacing, like wheels, drivetrain (axles, driveshafts, etc.)? Plan on selling any of it? If so, I may be interested in buying a few parts. Let me know.... :smokin:

No advice other than be damn sure you do something to the frame as others have said. Also unless your planning on going 4 link your gonna have a pretty short wheelbase for those 39.5s. Probably around 89-92.

I think we are going to try and stretch the frame to about 98-102 inches total. The frame is going to be boxed completely. I showed him Lame's Willys and he about crapped himself. He likes the way you did the floor and frame bracing/boxing. I have been doing more searching on the axles side of the bunch and he is looking into what to do w/ all the body, engine, and suspension part. He has another question for all you gurus. Will the bumpers that are for CJ-5 and CJ-7 work on the CJ2A? He likes the PSC Comp Stinger for the front and rear and was looking into purchasing it. Will it fit or will we have to modify it to fit?

Your frame is narrower than most cj5's except the early years..cj7 is wider, and I think the stingers frame mount. But ifn you are making new frames for those bigger diffs you will want to go wider anyway

Yup. You should just buy the CJ3B frame I am selling from CA with no rust :D :P

Yup, everything will be custom. I am building a '42 with 38.5 SX's and a SBC and it has been tons of work. If you plan on doing work to your frame I suggest you not and instead make your own frame. I wish I had made my own but by the time I finished boxing and strapping my origional frame I wasnt going to start over. Click the link in my sig for pics and other info on my flatfender project.

Wrong. The CJ5 And CJ7 frames are all 27.5" wide on center at the front. Same as the Willys.

'76 and up CJ's are wider at the rear, but that's not the area in question to mount a front stinger.
