: I'm gonna miss CALROC's!

Now that Calroc's has gone world wide, under the name of WE Rock, the series will be spread out over 5 states. Here's the planned itinerary for the west coast:
Feb. 11-13 Arizona
March 18-20 Moab, Utah
July 15-17 Spokane, Washington
Sept. 23-25 California
W.E. Rock Grand National Championship
Oct. 21-23 Texas
Except for the California event, my spotter and I would require more time off from work to attend these events. It doesn't appear that we will be able to run the entire series, which is very disappointing!

Will there be any other "CA based" series competitions?

Will many other CalROC season series competitors be unable to make the change to WE Rock?

Maybe I have my head up my ass, but I was thinking CalRocs was still operating independantly or W.E. Rock, meaning they would have seperate events and schedules? Am I off my Rocker?

Thanks

We will be presenting two series.
The W.E.ROCK events will be Nation and World Wide.
The CalROCS events will be a 3-4 event series held in CA and Northern NV.

More information for the CalROCS Series will be forthcoming.

All the western event sites for the W.E.Rock Series can be driven to within 1 day by any of the California based teams. Except the finals, of course. But that site was choosen so the east coasters did not have to drive all the way across the US, as they do now.

The longest drive will be for those from then San Deigo Area, driving to Washington.

Rich, will the WE Rock Intineraries be the same as CalROC's? Maybe a later deadline for check-in would help by allowing folks to travel on Friday instead of Thursday.

The CalROC series this year worked perfectly for my spotter and I. We only needed to miss one day of work per event. Typically we would drive to the event Friday and Register by 7pm. Sunday was a bit harder cause we would drive home immediately after we completed the last course.
The WE Rock series locations will require us to leave Thursday, and return on Monday. This eats up 9 days of vacation for the out of state events, and one day for the CA event. My spotter only gets 10 days of vacation/year. Plus we would probably need 4-5 days off for the Texas event.

Please DO NOT read this as a complaint! I'm simply looking for the best options available for my spotter and I to compete.

Why doesn't anyone do Saturday ONLY events, with 7-8 or 10 courses?
Compete all day, Award ceremony at night with party!?!? Just imagine the Food and Beer sells!

you guys should be happy you don't live in the central US. There is no series that's easy to run in. The finals are close, but nothing else is. And the finals are still 6 hours away from me.

Goldendale for me is 1240 mi. and only 200 mi. closer than jellico.

Is the Ca. event SoCal?

Lil' Rich

So cal will be in Pomona, CA. LA basin.

Remember if you want to just run 4 events to qualify yourself for the GNC2005 (Grand National Championship 2005) it doesn't matter what events you run, just run any 4 W.E.Rock events. And if there is enough interest we will pick four events for the central guys so they can run for a central title.

The cost did go up, this will reflect the purse. Now if you didn't want to pay the entry fee, you can enter the Trophy Division which will only cost $150, you will run for trophies only and not chance to get into the GNC2005

Trust me, I've competed in those, problems:

Nobody wants to travel that far for 1 day of wheeling.
It is really hard on the rig.
It is dangerous because it really tires out the spotter.
And I've competed in those types, and it is not fun.

Trophy wins overall they get the trophy, that's it. The competitors in the Purse/Series Contender division gets the purse. The trophy fees goes straight to the Purse/Series Contenders purse. This allows the locals that want to try and compete with the best do so without damaging there pocketbook too bad.

CalROCS: A regional only set of comps with only 75% payback and little TV Coverage. This is for the guys that want to have a fun competitve weekend for smaller events

W.E.Rock:
You will battle to represent America in the first True World Championship. (Outside of the US)(Close(80%) to closing a deal to have three teams from each class having all expenses paid trip to the World Championship)(this includes airfair, hotel, shipping of any and all spares plus vehicle, and 2 team members)
You will battle for a chance to be A Nation Champion while attending more than one region.
You will have a bigger purse.(More than 100%)
More Competitors.
Speed Channel (In High Definition)
Spike TV
More Coverage
Be in More populated areas
Have the biggest Contigancy in Rock Crawling History

Any other Questions?

I am defiantly interested in a Central Series. Those of us in the middle of the country will have to drive 2 days each way for at least 2 of the 4 events, whether we chose the East or West series.

Lil' Rich, maybe you can explain to me why no events in Colorado. Back in the day we had events out here but now nothing. The 2001 Warn Rock Crawling Championchip was in Montrose. The only thing going on now is Avalance Ranch, and that is so far away you might as well go to Farmington. I know there is alot of support out here, especially in the amatuer ranks for some sort of Comp. We had a amateur comp in Kremmling Colorado in 2002,2003 and the turnout was great, but they could not come to an agreement with the land owner for a third year. Our sport has a big following out here and we are getting skipped over. We want to see professional rock crawling in Co.

Russ: If we did a central championship it would be by taking 2 west series events and 2 east series events and making those mandatory if you wanted to run the the central title. (of course the combination of the 4 events would be voted on by the teams)

JPGUY:We can't go into montrose due to what happened there a few years ago. We also looked at Kremmling but saw that you guys were having problems there. Now we did see that there was a possibility of Colorado Springs, but couldn't find any land owners and town support. We are always looking for event sites to hold events at, so you if you have a few in your area, PM me. Truthfully, We've wanted to get into Colorado for quite some time, and the Moab site came up, so we figured that would be fairly close to maybe pull from the Colorado Area.

We would be more than happy to hold an event in any part of the country, just would like to have the events sites and support that must go with them.

$88.00 per ton of hay x 12 = 2 truck loads

$85.00 per yard of concrete (spray) x 140 yards

Spray truck with 2 guys for 1 day 850.00

total cost 13806.00 and you can have it in your back yard !!!

Even in Co..... Find an event sponsor and some chairs :)

what's the hay for Tony ? I could see you stacking it up but would it not compress with weight on it even after the concrete is sprayed on it

I'm all for F-toys running the W.E. Rock series, but unless the rest of the world buys into the rules of the spec class, I just dont see how it would be possible. We have #27 coming and would love the opertunity though

She's been after me for a year to build another rig, let her have the one we're sharing now....all the has to do is sell that Corvette. She's done one comp, looked real good, had a ball, got focused enough that she told me to hush up when I suggested a line.
