i found this cj5 i think im going to get it for about $700 but i dont think im going to use much of it i might just try to get the body for cheaper or sell the parts i dont use. going to do the body work on it, cut fenders in rear, flat fender fornt put, my cage in it, make a frame, 60s front and back and coil overs! going to be a fun project cant wait to start. is the body worth the cost seems cheap to me.

I started from scratch and I can tell you there is a lot of smaller things that add up fast. I ordered a windshield frame and a hood just today. $360

you do realize the steering wheel is set up for someone standing on the rear bumper right? :D

Could present a seious issue. Just needs a seat welded to the rear kinda like a zamboni.

Pretty Cheap. Do you get a tranny and transfer. If so take it. Get it anyway.

I own that vintage Jeep; my rig is a '62. See the way the pedals go through the floor? You'll need overswing pedals to support power assist brakes and hydri clutch. Which means fab work. i.e., new floor.

Steering? Fawgetabodit. Think about ganking an XJ tilt column and making it fit. i.e., new firewall.

Oh yeah, a new frame's a good thing too, especially for those honking meats on 60's

And if you're over 5' tall, think about ways to move the seat aft so you and your gut will clear the pedals and steering. i.e., fenderwell surgery

I ain't sayin don't get it; old iron rocks. just expect to have to work with it to get it to do and be what you want.

FWIW, I bought mine non-running for $800 in similar, if not more original in condition. The only parts of it I kept were portions of the tub, half the grill, the hood and the gears from the D18 t-case. All the rest is SES (somebody else's shit). But I have a '62 VIN which means no smog :smokin:

it has nothing in it im just going to use the tub, hood, grill. going to make a frame hydro steering and coilovers. going to sell everything i dont use also not going to use the pedals.
