I just went and looked at a millermatic 250 for sale yesterday. It was used by a guy in his small welding and fab business. It's a '95 model,....analog controls,
brand new gun, long power cord, good shape,(doesn't look abused)
No expendables , extras, tanks or other goodies included. The guy just upgraded to a bigger model.
$850.00 What do you think????

Well a brand new MM251 will cost about $1700 locally. I just bought a lincoln PM255 for about $1700 locally and then came across the same kind of deal on a mm250. I probably would have went with the used one, should have saved me about $900.

Better snatch it up before someone else does, that's a decent deal! Does it include a tank and any thing else?

the MM250 is a decent machine ... definitely not Miller's finest product. I think it was quicly upgraded to the MM250X and then the MM251

I have one as does one of my fab buddies. They are a good reliable machine for their generation. The early digital machines of that vintage can be problematic.

Good luck!

FYI-I bought mine from a local guy who had it on Ebay for $800 with a full tank and about a 1/2 spool of wire.

I don't think it is that great of a deal. It's ten years old and probably was ~$1200 when he bought it. Your going to need to drop some bucks on a bottle and regulator and will put you near a $1k!

Thanks for the input,
I decided yesterday to pass on the sale, but haven't checked back here since tuesday.
I do have an old CE-Mig160 machine that I picked up fo $50 bucks a few months ago,I guess that'll do for now.
I've been stick welding for almost 30 years now and thought I should at least get up to livin in the 90's :D :D .A wirefeed sure would be nice,I'm tired of
chippin off hot flux in to my face!!

I recently bought a used Lincoln Wire-matic 255. Had a budget of a grand, thought i would end up with either the MM175 or the Lincoln 175+. By the time you add in gas, wire, tax, etc. either of those would have been near the grand mark.

But i think i got lucky and scored the 255 with a full big bottle, wire, and consumables for $1000. And the place i got it from will stand behind it, even with it being about 10 years old. Thing welds great, couldn't be happier.
