Driving me crazy.
I could have sworn this is a "GENERAL TOOLS" item. I've been searching the 'net looking for "center tubing finder" "drill centering tool" etc. all to no avail. Going nuts trying to figure out who makes this little item.

I have something similar called a centering head, I bought it from the local welding supply but it marks the center of the tube/pipe and has an angle indicator as well.

Enco, MSC, J&L, maybe even Grizzly and Harbor Freight.

Damn, you're good! :smokin:
I've been searching every catalog and web site trying to find that damn thing! At least that gives me a lead. :flipoff2:
I've been using a metal ruler and 60 degree pointer to find center... so this tool will work nicely. Hint... lay metal ruler on the work piece. If your 60 degree pointer comes down to pinch the ruler between the pointer and work piece, and the ruler remains horizontal, you're on dead center. Easy to do, harder to explain.
Thanks,

So.... what does this do?
I assume it's used to find & position a pipe so that it can be drilled at the very center?

Yes. One trick is to just weld a piece of angle iron (V) to a flat plate. Bring the drill down to the center of the "V" of the angle iron. Bring drill up, drop pipe in, and you'll be at dead center of the pipe. Simple and easy.... unless something is welded to the pipe as my earlier photo shows. As you can see from the photo a vise to hold the tube and that "center indicator" works a little better in this case.
For $3.00 that tool is cheap, and a nice to have item. :)
