: making belly skid

I am planning on making my own belly skid. My plan is to make a cross member to hold the transfer case then put flat sheet of metal and cut and reinforce where needed. My question is for the cross member. I am thinking of either just bolting the cross member to the x-case and put bushing at the frame or I heard somewhere that you could use a bushing from some other vehicle (I think Chevy) to gain more clearance. Has any body heard of this? Which idea would work better? Am I talking out of my a$$?
Thank you
Matt

I recommend the bushing at the x-case. Bushings at the frame do not allow enough flex, overloading the x-case mount.

Good question, seen it beat to death before.

My Chevy S10 Blazers have a rubber bushing between the tranny/t-case and the cross member. Pretty sure it bolts right to the adapter between the t-case and tranny.
