so where is the water temp sending unit on a 1983 460? i feel stupid asking this question but i cant find it and my chilton book doesnt say where its at.

I can't fully answer your question as a 460, but for my '84 351, it's close to the front right (if looking from front to rear of engine bay) of the intake manifold.

Hope that gives you a little bit of insite or a clue to look for maybe. :)

ya i found it. it was hiding from me. mine was at the same spot yours was. i figurered your 351 should be the same as mine considering they are both the 385 sereise blocks...i had to get rid of that electric guage. i hate those guages that just read, "normal"...well how normal is normal. my truck was running on the "l" of nomral so i flushed it and put a 160 stat and changed to a real guage so i can keep a good eye on it next weekend when i tow to the desert again
