Anybuddy use a home powder coating system? I have the oven, even a sandblast cabinet (leftover dishwasher) and I would like to give powder coating a try. I've seen em' at Caswell tools, Harbor, and Eastwood car care. Just wondering which would work best for small parts.

I haven't done home powder coating, but here is a link I have saved that some might find useful:

I've only seen the Eastwood and Harbor Freight versions first hand. Got to try out the Eastwood and was impressed. Personally, I'd spend the extra money for the Eastwood. Just seemed like a more solid system compared to HF (so, what's new). Haven't quite gotten to the point of freeing up the money to buy one, but it is on the list.

I have the Chicago Electric / HF version. ~$60 IIRC.
I powdercoated most of the parts for my engine rebuild with good results.
I have an old household 220V electric oven in the shop.
I bead blast the stuff, then wipe it down with a Prep Step product.. then fog it with some powder and stuff in the oven.

wow, you used just an old oven? Thats a good idea, instead of buying a PC oven that costs 1000 dollars. nice idea!!

Yep. The price was right on the oven.. FREE.. and it works just fine.. and since I've located it under the air compressor, it doesn't even really take up "room" I would use for something else. :)
I can also use the stove top to heat parts that are a press fit, or keep the coffee hot.
Just don't plan on ever cooking in the *oven* part again.. it outgasses when curing the powder, and it's toxic..

Thanks for the replys. tsm1mt posted some great pics of his engine coated with the HF version. For as often as I'll be using a coating system, this one would fit the bill. Thanks again.
