I know the 351 efi intakes are long, tall and have twin throttle bodies. Are the truck 302s the same way and are they better intakes than the car ones?

yes the 302s are just like the 351 ( being tall and twin TBs). its all relative to what you want the truck 302 verses the car 302 to do. usually more torque in the truck 302 than car( different cam )
I used the truck block and wiring harness and mustang intakes on my EB. it works good and was cheap so i did it.

cool I wanted to make sure the 302 intake I was bidding on wasn't mislabled as one from a 351. I got a 67 mustang with a 2 barrel and I was thinking of doing something different. I wana use the truck intake on it I just won one off eaby for $10 (the upper part). So now I need a 302 truck base next. :grinpimp:

thats for sure a 302 intake, looks identical to my 86' besides the idle air control valve (that pics looks to be longer)

You do realize that the truck intake is MUCH taller than the car intake right?? IF this is going in your mustang (granted, I don't don't know how much clearance there is), you might run into some issues with hood clearance. I know I am going to have hood clearance problems with mine, on my V8 swap into my ranger, because I am using that same intake as well, because I pulled my engine out of a 88 E150 Van.

'lil bit of trivia, the truck uppers are the same, just an 8 instead of a 0 once they put the displacement on them. The early ones like that are identical.

I think you are gonna run into problems with the truck intake on the 65 stang. I have seen pics of the mustang manifold in a old stang and they are pretty tight, maybe with a big cowl hood you might be ok, but i know they are quite a bit taller than the Crown vic and Mustang intakes. If you want i could measure my Vic intake and see how tall it sets up off the say... valve covers?

Plus you have to deal with the PITA Torx bolt right in the middle of the intake. Not a big fan.

well I found a better pic of the 5.0L truck intake and its totaly differnt than the 5.8L upper and the car 5.0L intake. The ports look WAY bigger than the car 5.0 intake and is way cheaper than the explorer/gt40 intakes. Should be fun to motor around with. Some ford guys are calling it a paper weight which I don't understand.

no thats not really the case, the truck 351 has oval ports and the 302 has them huge ass rectangle ports in the picture above, if you put a holley car type intake upper on it they would be nice for a car, but in stock form they are rpm limiting in a car application because of those loooooooong ass runners. so if you build a 7500 rpm screamer you would want a box type upper on top of the truck lower, but for low end grunt, the complete truck setup does its job well.
