Ok, here's a odd one for ya, 1990 4.0L

New 180 degree thermostat
New Fan Clutch and fan

Drove up Mt. Ranier (sp?) today, temp guage was as 50-60% reached the top of the mtn at the visitor center aprox 9-10k ft elavation. Turned the motor off, got out and my truck decided to burp up some coolant, not a whole lot maybe a lieter.

WTF?

stock temp gauge or aftermarket? If stock get a real one, the factory gauges are pretty unreliable.

yeah stock gauges are gay, but also could be your radiator cap not holding enough pressure. Not sure why it doesnt do it until the engine is shut off but my truck did the same thing until I put a new cap on.

second for cap going south. Stick a new one on there, one of the most often overlooked (and failed) cooling systems pieces.

check all your hoses to. it was most likely gurgling the whole time after railin on er a bit. thats work climbin that little hill, but you wont know it from in the cab if its getting aired up and gurglin till its spittin it out bad.

Did it burp into the overflow or exceeded the overflow and on the ground?
