I have a 2001 Dodge 4x4 with an auto. I would like to have the option of 2wd low range. I have found the 4x4 posi lock for $145 on sale. Has anyone tried this device? How hard is it to install? Thanks, JC

I don't have any experience with the product you mention, but a cheap, easy way to get 2lo on the '01 Dodge is to splice a vacuum (air) switch into the vacuum line from the transfer case to the vacuum modulator on the CAD. You shift the t-case into 4lo and then flip the switch disengaging the CAD and voila... 2lo.

I hate my posi-lok. Broke it three times, but that is wheelin and hittign it on rocks and stuff... probably fine a tow rig but it sure doesn't engage as nice the stock vacum motor.

Takes a couple hours to install, need to drill soemting like a 3/4" hole in the firewall, not really difficult though.

I use it on my tow rig and no problems to mention of...1 hr install time but didn't pay $145...got mine from a local 4wheelers for less the $120 out the door no discounts...I need it to combat my clutch and dodge power....

In the last Four Wheeler mag, they did an install on a GM vehicle, and a few pages later I saw it on sale for $145 at 4wheelers.com,(I think). It has been $199 since they came out with it years ago. A guy on TDR sells a kit for a little less than $100 but it is just a new vacuum switch. JC
