Chark 11-09-2004, 04:33 AM :) I think the wife was wanting to spend the entire week with her family...last why I came over here to look for a ride. I'll check things out a bit...but I'm wanting to come down, my head needs to wheel. What's the name/number for the local motel?
Thanks, Chark

Chark 11-09-2004, 05:51 PM OK....I'm really thinking of heading down. I live on the WV, Ohio border 45 miles north of Marietta, Ohio. Pretty much same time to either I 77 South or I 70 West....at Hannibal, Ohio. How in the hell is the best way to travel to Harlan Co.? Also, is it dry there...I need a night out also. Thanks.
Shoope1 11-09-2004, 08:40 PM Don't hold me to it but
77 till Charleston WV
then 119 till Pikeville, Ky
then 119/23
119 goes all the way to Harlan.
You will have one bad mnt to cross. (Whitesburg, Mnt)
and about 10 miles or so of curvy road. Not sure how 119 is from Pikeville till Charleston.
Shoope1 11-09-2004, 08:42 PM Oh,
Cumberland Ky is about 20 miles from Harlan. Its the only place in Harlan, Co that is wet.
peej23 11-10-2004, 08:46 AM Thinking about coming over from Louisville, could you please give directions from Louisville to the Mall.
Thanks, CJW
Shoope1 11-10-2004, 05:20 PM 64 to Lexington
75 South till you get to the Corbin exit (25E)
Run 25E till you get to the Hwy119 at Pineville.
Run 119 for 30 miles till you get to 421 in Harlan. then use the map on our website www.kymc.org
buckhard 11-10-2004, 11:19 PM in the Northeastern part of the state and is fairly close to Portsomouth, OH and Ashland, KY. The other park that Shoope1 is referring to is in the far Southeastern part of the state.
As far as the one in the Northeastern part of the state it is called KY Outback Adventure Park (http://www.kyorvpark.com) and its web site is www.kyorvpark.com (http://www.kyorvpark.com) . It is a private pay to play park that allows only full size offroad vehicles like jeeps, SUVS, trucks, and rock crawlers. They do not allow any ATVs, bikes or rail buggies.
They have some awesome trails at this place with rocks, creek rides and hill climbs. We rode with 5 other vehicles and rode all day never going on the same trail and we passed quite a few others.
Shoope1 11-10-2004, 11:41 PM Kentucky will be on the map for Offroading real soon.
Lots of places popping up to ride.
Our park will be public. So ride for free. Do not se this changing anytime soon.
KYMTNYOTA 11-11-2004, 06:28 AM TURKEY DAY RIDE!!!! (though not on turkey day, a few after)
I still hope to have the yota back together. Look for Shoope to post some pics of the project "frame twister" (literaly)
glfredrick 11-11-2004, 06:50 AM According to my kid - the park is great with some nicely challenging trails...
He was there a couple weeks ago with some Zuk drivers and had a blast.
