: Bent rear disc brake???

My jeep fell off the jack yesterday and landed on the passenger side rear disc. It fell about 8", not straight down, but at an angle.... Now I think I have a little vibe. The kind that you feel when your swampers are not warmed up. What is the chance of the disc or even strangly the axle getting tweaked??? This is a 60 with CRMO tubes, rear discs...

What are the chances???

Pull the wheel and spin the rotor. Should be able to tell if it is tweaked at all. I would think a rotor would crack if anything.

I can't see the rotor bending, it's cast...Is this a FF 60 ? ...I can't see anything bending on one of those either.

Just wheel it, and see what falls off. :)

No FF... Ya, I think I am may be just paranoid.

Todd, I think I will pull it some time to check it out.

it is entirely possible that you bent a rotor, its happened to me before. it may be cast, but its such a (relatively) thin peice of cast metal that it could flex sideways just a little bit. and the brake pads are in such pretty tight tolerance to the rotor that a slight warp to it and you can have a nasty vibe. does it get worse under braking? if so then i would say that you bent it. if not, it is probably just something else.

I don't feel it during braking. I don't think I'm paranoid, I definently feel something that I did not feel till it fell. Hmmm, I'm going to have to check the rotor...

You could have bent the axle shaft at the flange. If it's a semi-floater.

That's what I'm afraid of! But then I think that would be hard to do, cus it would not be any different than you dropping the jeep while the rear tire is on there?? Would it? I guess the tire would act as a sponge, but I'm not sure!

Choke- put a dial indicator to it (mag on the housing) you could then check the face & side quickly without having to pull the shaft.

I would say if that much weight fell on the rotor it did bend it..
The axle is possible to, but Id say the rotor would be damaged more likely, hopefully at least..If it is the axle guess you now have a spare..Glad you werent hurt thats alot more important bud:D
