Assuming I don't wheelhop the thing into submission, how do 20 tcases hold up? It's a 77, big hole...
I'd go 300 but $*%#@# already bought and installed the T-18 to 20 adapter a while back.
The big honkin 10 spline output shaft is great. So how do they last?

They are pretty strong. I wouldn't worry about it.

Tweeked 401, 6.32 trans and 38-39's on steep rocks? Still OK?
I've heard of a case girdle or something similar- worth it?

Anything is brakeable. A girdle is most often used on the 18 not the 20 to my knowledge. A 300 isn't a big step up from the 20 unless you do the 32 spline output but then why not just go with the Atlas. Get on the gas to launch up something and come back down on the gas and that will bust lots of stuff not to mention the 20. Drive smart and it will be fine. Drive like you don't have a dime in it and you will need spare parts of all kinds. Hell I run an 7.02 1st to an 18 with the 3.15 gears 60's and 39.5s and haven't broke it yet but I did :nuke: the rear once. Bad ring gear I am sure but it just goes to show you never know what is the weak link may be.
