Looking to put front and rear dana 44 from a 87 wagoneer in my 88yj.
I am thinking that I want to keep them full width for ease of installation. Is there anything that will keep me from doing this. The front is driverside drop so that shouldnt be a problem. How about rotation, driveshaft yokes? Thanks for any help.

I am doing this swap now and going SOA in the process.
It is not hard at all, and the width is not an issue. Search here and google to find tons of info.

Thanks, I already have soa on stock axles. I did a search but no luck. Can you tell me what words you used to search.
Man you must suck at searching. Terms like "YJ Dana 44 swap" or "Wrangler Dana 44 swap" for starters. It's been beaten like a dead horse on the Jeep board. Don't forget the rest of the internet via google.com

My husband and I did this swap about 2 years ago.
Here's an overblown build pages for you to take a look at. This build was mostly done on an original Jeep that was totalled last year. We've since swapped everthing over to another jeep and the axles are still running fine. We have since busted a D44 rear shaft and have gone with Mosers.

I've got a front and rear waggy D44. The front is about 60.5" wide. your YJ axles are 60" = good. The rear waggy D44 is 58.5" wide. your YJ is 60" wide = good. The width difference isn't really an issue as long as you stay w/in a few inches.
There was a thread started by Keith Strong in the newbie forum a few months ago with pictures and helpful hints to prepare a front Wagoneer D44 for the spring over perches. The rear is super easy so no worries there.
good luck,
Mike
