I see that you answered the nest question I was going to ask, where is the weakest link?

The knuckle

Craig

I guess Lance needs CTM to make some knuckles next

I have found the next weakest link is the Warn Premium hubs if you are running them. I powdered the driver side inner hub at Johnson Valley.

Do you think that the hub fuses would help that? Or would they just break all the time?

Hub fuses you have to buy when they break. The hubs are lifetime warrantied, usually with walk-in replacement at places like 4 Wheel Part Wholesalers.

I carry drive slugs as spares, and also use them when Im competing.

Nice write up.
One question - I hear people flapping about the CTM joints only being for off road applications at low speeds. Have you noticed any highway speed problems?

They are fine for highway use. :)

AWSOME!!!! anytime the knuckle comes off you know your doing something right! What’s with the cost though? with warn shafts and CMT's i could build a 60! any talk of the price dropping??? maybe if some competition enters the field the will drive the price down.

Goup buy? Dealer availability? Lower prices?

HAH!

In late October last year I asked Jim Peterson (All Wheel Drive, Inc.) here in Farmington to call the CTM guy, fire up a dealership and get me a set. I'd just recieved delivery on my new Warn's inlcuding the upgraded hub set for my Currie 44 and I didn't want to waste them on exploding Spicers.
The next week Jim reported there were only two CTM sets left out of the billet runs and I'd get one ....
Two weeks later I was told those two sets went to "some CA competitors" ... obviously for PR to build demand for the upcomming run of the forged variety due in January 02.
Dang it Jeff (H8), I'm still mad at him for giving you MY CTM's :) !
Well, we are way past January and with chagrin I've been reading here about you guys getting your CTMs...
OK, so yesterday Jim informed me that my set "were in the mail" for a Wed delivery ... the day I'm leaving for the 'Cruses Chili Challenge.
I'm packing up spares with 760's now ... :mad3: ... maybe I haven't paid enough dues to enjoy this badass combo ... ?

So what does this tell ya? ...

1. They are selling like hotcakes at $150 ea. retail manufacturer direct to consumer.
2. So much so that shipments to dealers have only (maybe) just begun.
3. Fat chance you'll be seeing them for any less than the $ 150 in the near future.

How many of you guys would be interested in me checking into getting some billet ones made. I have been talking to Tom Torhmolen of TFS motor sports. He builds Tractor Pulling motors in IN he now has a billet D60 U-joint that he has never had one break. The motors he builds run over a 1000 horse and turns the tires hard. He said that he could make the D44 if there was enough interest. He doesnt know what the cost would be until I could give him a number. All I need is interest. I will get back with you guys on this. These would be for offroad use.

I'll answer a few questions as a user and distributor/dealer.

Yes they are still hard to get. (pent up demand) Yes some of us get them quicker due to promotional/competition reasons. (We run the stickers on the comp rig, we get them faster.) Sorry. Jack's working all the time making them, they are becoming more available all the time.

They will not sell for less than $150. That is by the rules as cheap as they can be sold for. likely they will cost more. If I sell them for $150 the price I buy them at (unless I buy a LOT) doesn't cover shipping and the "discount" price I pay for someone to use a credit card. Think less than 10% discount. Consequently if you are one of our "regular" customers I'll use your card with CTM and drop ship them to you then charge you the difference. Otherwise buy them from your local shop/distributor. If they sell them to you for $150 they are doing you the favor.

I'll back up the reports these things are freaking amazing.
