: Help with OEM toyota tools
proffitt'scruisers 11-12-2004, 04:34 PM I found another tool set in a cruiser we bought. The kit is complete AFAIK but most of the tools are rusty. I have some questions if anyone can help.
I'm not sure if the brake adjuster, the utility knife, and the spark plug gapper are Toyota.
Also, what is the screwdriver thingy with the light / fuse in it? The end screws in and bottoms the spring loaded light (or whatever) to the blade. The tool is marked Toyota.
proffitt'scruisers 11-12-2004, 04:36 PM here's a better pic of the screwdriver
blkdog40 11-12-2004, 05:18 PM bottom pic looks like an electrical tester - might be missing the metal pocket clip(like on a ballpoint pen) and section of wire with an aligator clip?
edit - this is a cheapo one I have
proffitt'scruisers 11-12-2004, 06:46 PM Nope, I have stuff like this. There was never a clip or wire. Also, the thing inside does not look like a bulb, more like a fuse but not connected in the middle.
Thanks though.
Landpimp 11-12-2004, 07:53 PM only thing that might be OEM fj kit is the plug gapper and feeler gauge(only because I have never seen a OEM points kit up close)
Brake tool might be a Toyota SST but not in a tool kit(but should have been). the tester I have never seen, not part of a kit but maybe a Toyota SST

proffitt'scruisers 11-12-2004, 09:58 PM This is it (circled in pic) it was in the bag, as indicated, with the feeler guages and the gapper. The whole kit is complete.
Jeez Pimp, take some of that stuff out of the plastic, put it in the canvas bag, and put it in one of your 86 trucks, will ya :flipoff2:
Landpimp 11-13-2004, 07:49 AM must be part of the points set, I'll look in some of my 60's books to see what it is.
and ya wanna sell that kit? I don't have a canvas one for the 60's and I really would like one ;)

the screwdriver thing is part of the "engine adjust kit" (I assume for the points)
I suspect the screw driver is showhow fused so as not to weld the point together or something or short something out.
the brake tool shows up in the SST section but not part of the supplied kit.
proffitt'scruisers 11-13-2004, 08:27 AM Thanks, landpimp.
I don't see how the fuse would even do anything as it is only connected at one end. Plus it's not really a fuse.
I may have an extra mid 60s bag somewhere around here, I'll let you know.
Landpimp 11-13-2004, 08:32 AM must be a light then, touch it to the battery and see what happens.
yeah let me know if ya got something..............prefer with tools ;)
Thanks, landpimp.

Plowboy 11-14-2004, 06:44 AM I have a circuit tester very similar to the screwdriver shown. If it is the same as mine, when the blade touches a hot wire it will light up. You are the ground that completes the circuit. Never did work very well.
