Hey all,
I am attempting to replace the kickdown cable on a ZF this saturday and am at a stoping point.
I have removed the pan and etc...along with the 13 bolts that hold the valve body/system in and I am not sure where to go from here. Should the body just fall out? Do I need to pry on it? If I pry, should I use something specific? I know the insides of these are very sensitive...
Any help would be appreciated!

Don't pull the valve body out!
Carefully pull the cable so that the mounting point is visible. Using hemostats or such, carefully manuever the cable to where it needs to be.
Not an easy job with the tranny out of the vehicle, worse in.

PT,
It's currently in the vehicle... :( I am asuming you mean pull the cable out from the side of the tranny until I am able to the hemo's on the actual cable itself eh? Once I have the cable between the hemos manuver it around so that the resessed point on cable end that goes into the zf [looks like a fishing split shot] get's free, then remove it when I feel it get free?
Any ideas on how much I should pull? With my luck the damn end will break off inside... :)
Thanks!

BTW, Why don't you suggest removing the valve body?

PT,
Well, we got it all removed and put back together taking extra care with all the bolts and seals and whatnot...but when I cranked up the truck I heard a rattling noise coming from the tranny, then I turned it off. :(
Any ideas?

Crowbar and sandpile come to mind.

Pendy,
I appreciate you thoughts, really I do. :) As always, last minute, someone is coming to pickup the truck on Tuesday for a sale.
Do you think I could have put the ZF into FUBAR mode?
