: Lifter pecking

Hi all! I have a lifter making noise and my question is can i replace just the lifters? or do i need to do more than just that?? thanks in advance!

I assume you have hyd lifters. You can replace one, but normally they are sold in sets of 16, might as well change them all when your in there... You might have a loose rocker, sometimes the nuts back off, might want to check that first. I have also seen the pressin studs pull out of the head, causing excessive play in the rockers....:skull:

Yes you can replace "just" the lifters......Make sure you check to see if the "valves" are opening all the way. I just ran into this "problem" with a buds (305)....the lifter was tapping so I looked into it......turns out the #7 exhaust "lobe" was gone!!!:eek: :eek: New Cam/lifters/gaskets he was done-afternoon shot. Fun when the engine is still in the van!!

i have checked my rocker arms and they are all tight. my troubles all started one night of muddin and i sucked mud down in my motor.:nuke: not good! apparently, since chevy's are built rock soild, that is how they swim,like a rock! but you know, you gotta live and learn!
