I want to make a trip to the Rubicon this year but the only time I get there is in the last week of May. Would some of you 'con veterans give me your snow level predictions for the last week of May.
:)
thank you,

Anybody want to guess as to how much snow will be on the trail at the end of May? :skull:

It will need to be alot closer to the end of May to really tell. I would venture to bet that there will be snow still on the trail but the trail will be passable from Loon to Spider though. Most Memorial day weekends we have some snow drifts but there are more of use now that are going weeks in advance and busting open the trail by the time the big weekend gets there. It is really up to the weather though. In this picture the snow droped from what you see here to only about 10" deep from one weekend to the next. This was April 15th of last year.

Exactly what Dean said. To hard to tell right now, it can change in a weekend. I usually make a run up there at the end of april to get a peek of the snow levels. I have been up there on memorial day and it felt like July and I have been up there on memorial day and there was 4' of snow at Loon.
Just come on down and go wheelin' Snow or not there will be a ton of people up there.

That's not what I am looking for, people. I do appreciate the advice though :).

Like the guys said, the trail should be passable but wait and ask for an update in April.
If you don't want to run into a lot of people on the trail, plan a mid-week trip.

If I could predict snowfall and snowpack ACCURATELY months in advance, I wouldn't be needing this job! :flipoff2:
Here's a good ski weather web site to help you monitor things as you get closer to May.

Yep!
Go to www.trailconditions.com and check your area.
Its a snowmobile site and you ask people that just were in your area. It works great.
