: Polyurethane bushing question

I'm replacing the bushings on my springs and ran into a problem. I pressed the old rubber ones out and put the new prothane bushings in. No big deal. The problem is that the 7/16th bolts are too small since the new bushing did not come with bushing spacers. 1/2 inch bolts fit perfectly but the shackes would need to be drilled out. Again this is no problem. Is there an adverse effect to not having the spacers in? Will this wear out the bushing quicker?

I have been running them w/ no bushing for a few years, w/o any problems. I also use nylock nuts, so I can run them loose, w/o worrying about them coming off. I usually coat the bolts with anti-sieze when ever I take them out, to keep everything working smoothly.
