: What the hell is wrong with me - EAS LWB

I found a LWB sitting in a redneck repair garage lot. Bagged air suspension (does that qualify as a pun?), looks like it has been sitting a long time. Currently trying to get it for a song.

Can I use disco 1 coils in the thing? I have all the suspension from a disco 1, wondering how the coils would work.

Will the booster/master from a disco 1 fit this thing? If not I'll make it fit.

Before Ike tries to beat me into submission, this thing looks like I can get it for 500$. It's mint inside, low miles, and the body has little corrosion. It is a little banged up and it looks like shit.

I can't believe I'm considering buying the crappiest of all range rovers, but, for the money...

I think the Disco I springs will work, however I think the LWB RRC is a little heavier in the rear. You might need to add a 1/2" or 1" spacer to get it to look level. Then again you might not have to. Just have to try them and see.

IMHO a LWB RRC with the 4.2 (and converted airbags) is one of the coolest LR! But then again I am probably a little biased only ever owning Range Rovers. :D

Thanks guys, I should have been more specific. I knew that the coils would fit, but I didn't know how they would hold up as far as spring rate is concerned. I guess if I do get it I'll just try it and report back.

As far as crappiness goes, a 4.2, EAS, ABS and LWB... Argh. Sounds like a mechanic's nightmare.

Yes, but IIRC the Disco's use single line calipers, while RR have dual. Slade converted dual line calipers to single. (Search)

Yep. I have two sets already converted for my 109... but does the booster actually bolt on? Will it interchange with the ABS, as far as the mounting pattern on the firewall? I figure it has to, the dash area is similar to a Disco.

There is a panel that bolts to the firewall that houses both (or all 3) pedals. Not sure if the panels are the same (ie mounting holes for various brake config), but they are interchangeable. Not really answering your question, but a swap option regardless.

That is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks...

So I called and finally talked to the right person. He owes 10K on it, and it needs an alt, airbags, exhaust, etc etc etc. I practically started laughing when he says he wanted to get close to the 10K figure. Up here LWBs go for 6-8k in MINT shape, like, everything working awesome, little rust. So I told him that I wasn't interested, rather point blank, and hung up.

He calls me back. Asks me what it's worth. I told him 3K as is if he gets a sucker, a lot less to a dealer tech like me (I worked there for 8 mos, saw/worked on three RRs - they all rotted away years ago). I told him to advertize it and call me back when no one calls.

:grinpimp:

So, I guess in a few months I might be getting a phone call. I'll let you guys know.

You probably hurt his feelings! :(

I can get you a '99 Disco I with 60,000 miles on it for under $4500, if you want one. Needs a lot of little stuff, but all the stuff you're used to since you were a dealer tech.
