Anyone use a circular saw cutting wheel or blade made for a circular saw that cuts mretal? I saw a blade in a magazine at work by SteelMax.com.

I have used an abrasive blade in a circular saw before. Just like a die grinder wheel but bigger, worked well IMO. I was cutting 3/16 at the time. I don't use that anymore because I have other means of cutting it now, but it worked well for me.

You can get abrasive wheels at Home Depot. IMO they're expensive and they go quick. I think with practice you could get a little better at it, but the blade loves to deflect and then it really binds up the saw.

I've done this before with pretty good results. Only side effect I saw was the exhaust port that the saw pushes sawdust out is all plastic. Needless to say it's got a different shape now after I melted it a little.

I use a circular saw with abrasive blade to cut expanded metal. It works great :D :D

it works, but it isn't like using a circular saw on wood by any means. Anything I would use that for, something else works better. A cutoff blade in an angle grinder gives you way more control, and the speed is correct for grinding so the blade lasts way longer. (unless it binds and you rip out a big chunk)

An abrasive blade will work if your circular saw is metal. Plastic blade guards will melt as will any other plastic parts near the blade. Expect a short life out of your saw.

We use the actual metal cutting blades not the abrasive ones. They work way better than a abrasive. They last way longer and cut way better. The only down side is you can get more kick back out of them. We bought the circular saw designed for cutting metal, so we haven't had any issues.
