I started shopping for a camshaft last night. While there isn't a big range of stock camshafts-and Pendy's insistence the 4.2 cams are the same as the 3.9s, I did find a few variations and little data.
The Rave CD lists a total lift of 0.365 (IIRC). I'm assuming the rocker arms are 1.5:1 and the camshaft lifter is actually about 0.245.
Now, I see cams listed for 3.5, 3.9, 4.2 and then, I saw one listed for low compression engines and another for US spec. Now, from the Rave, it appears as though the low compression engine might be the US 4.2.
Yes, I'm obsessing, but not as bad as other's secret obsessions. Maybe tomorrow, I'll measure the other two cams, or rather, take the time to write down the measurements.
As the measurements increase (n-1), the confusion increases as well.
